GERD causes sleeping problems

GERD was a term that was never in my vocabulary until just a few years ago.  I have heard plenty of people complain of heartburn over the years, but since it never effected me personally I never put too much thought into it.  Most people now days take prescription or over-the-counter drugs to combat the problem.  There used to only be a few alternatives for medications for heartburn.  You had Tums, Rolaids, or Alka-seltzer; maybe your occasional pepto-bismol.  Now, there are literally hundreds of medications that can take care of heartburn, indigestion, acid reflux and other stomach ailments.  But what did people do before all these medications?

There are plenty of ways to avoid GERD if you have it.  There are also ways to help reduce it, if you go ahead and have another helping of spaghetti, even when you know you shouldn’t.  There are plenty of excellent pillows, including the Acid Reflux Sleep Wedge at Slumbermart.com.  There is also a great article that outlines GERD and some ways around suffering from it.  If you have GERD, you may not have to let it rule what you eat and do.

As always, Art.
