I believe the online MMORPG has been around for 4 or so years now. But it certainly has established itself as a brand. It's published by Blizzard entertainment, the same geniuses that develepoed the The Diablo series (Diablo 3 status currently unknown) and Starcraft, whose 2nd version is coming out soon I believe.
