Snoring and Your Health
Usually, someone tells you that you are snoring. Whether it is a spouse, roommate, partner, friend, or otherwise; you get woke up and told to “turn over” or to “sleep on your stomach”. This usually isn’t much of a problem. Some people have a hard time sleeping on their side or stomach, though, and then it becomes a problem. Snoring can most usually be easily fixed. It most likely won’t take surgery, expensive medical devices, prescription drugs. You may just need a new pillow, like the Snore-No-More Pillow. You may also want to try these tips to stopping your snoring dilemma:
Improve your sleep positioning, elevate your head
Lose any excess weight (reduces pressure on your neck and throat)
Quit smoking (causes muscles to relax too far, creates sinus congestion)
Reduce alcohol consumption (relaxes muscles, increases chances of snoring)
These are some basic causes of snoring that are well in our control. If, you try these tips but see no positives results, you may want to consult a physician. If you live alone, and your not sure if you are snoring, a good self test is to get 8 hours of sleep. If you wake up still feeling tired, there is a chance that your sleep is being disturbed and snoring is a likely culprit. If you want to be sure, you can set an appointment with an ear, nose, and throat doctor (also called an ENT or an otolaryngologist).
Snoring is a serious problem and should be dealt with properly. Snoring can keep you from getting the recuperative sleep that you need, pushing you into a sleep debt, and causing chronic fatigue. That can lead to many serious problems such as hypertension, type II diabetes, and heart disease. Snoring can also be a symptom of sleep apnea, which can be fatal. If you try the correct postured pillow, most likely you will see results, along side the other tips previously mentioned in this blog post. But, if you do not see any results, please seek a physicians assistance.
As always, Art.
