A search for wrinkle cures in the engine of your choice (I used Google and Yahoo) and you will find an innumerable amount of sites that are dedicated to keeping folks from getting old.  From creams to sprays to pills to voodoo to duct tape (yes, duct tape) people everywhere have developed ways to keep your skin young and vibrant.  Ever since Nicholas V. Perricone’s book The Wrinkle Cure  made it to the New York Times Bestseller List, there have been dozens (if not thousands) of other books that have been released and published that coincide or contradict with Dr. Perricone’s work. This has, of course, spurred on a new generation of products that are supposed to “cure” wrinkles.  Many of these products are very pricey, and claim that they are expensive because they work.  I don’t have much evidence that says they do not work, but I can’t imagine many of them do.

There is a basic principle here that has been forgotten.  That is gravity.  Gravity is at work on our skin, just like everything else.  There is no anti-gravity cream (as of yet) so without spending thousands of dollars per year on creams and lotions, you may want to try the following:

Eat Better - try increasing the amount of omega-3 fatty acids you intake.  Lessen on sugars and processed white flour.  Check out the vegetables high in supporting carotenes (beets, carrots) and zinc.

Drop Bad Habits - smoking, drinking, and the sun play huge parts in skin care.  So, next time you go to the beach, leave the alcohol and smokes alone, and wear proper sunblock.

Water - drink lots of it.  Include some green tea in there, too.  Skip the coffee in the morning.  It can contribute to the aging process.  Keep your skin hydrated, from the inside out, by drinking at least 8 8oz glasses of H2O a day.

Increase Blood Flow - Exercise will help a lot.  Also, get a good pillow that keeps the blood flowing at nightBlood flow rejuvenates the cells, helping to keep them sticky and elastic.  As we age, the cells become less sticky and thinner, which causes the epidermis to sag.

Following these steps won’t necessarily stop wrinkles, or cure them, but it can slow the process down to a crawl.  Of course, will these basic steps, including diet and better sleep, you will fight the aging process naturally, without chemicals or “miracle  cures”.
